Business Licenses
Thinking of starting a business in Mt. Crested Butte?
Due to the State of Colorado passing Senate Bill 22-032, the Town of Mt. Crested Butte has dismantled the Business License program entirely. The Town will no longer be issuing business licenses, and all businesses are welcome to operate within the Town of Mt. Crested Butte without one. Please do not send renewal payments for your business license; it will no longer be accepted.
Businesses are still required to hold a Sales Tax License and remit sales tax if applicable under Chapter 19 of the Mt. Crested Butte Town Code. Short-term rental units are still required to hold an STR License in accordance with Chapter 11, Article II of the Town Code.
In addition to discontinuing the Business License Fee, the Town has onboarded with GovOS/MUNIRevs for our sales tax collection and management. All businesses are required to file and remit their taxes through the MUNIRevs online portal.
