The Planning Commission is responsible for the town's physical and socioeconomic planning, including the development of plans and policies, land use, zoning, and environmental review.
During the development review process, the team ensures proposed development directs the future of the community toward appropriate physical and economic growth compatible with our natural environment.
The Planning Commission consists of seven members appointed by Town Council and members serve four-year terms.

For July and August 2022, the Planning Commission's regular meetings will be on the first and third Thursdays of the month at 5 pm. Planning Commission meetings are typically held on the first and third Wednesday of the month starting at 5 pm. Please review the upcoming agenda for official dates and times.

Planning Commission Vacancy
The Mt. Crested Butte Town Council will be appointing one member to the Planning Commission at the Tuesday, September 5, 2023, Town Council meeting located in the Council Chambers at Mt. Crested Butte Town Hall, 911 Gothic Road, Mt. Crested Butte, and via Zoom. Persons wishing to attend the meeting virtually may do so by visiting iCompass https://mtcrestedbuttecolorado.civicweb.net/portal/, which contains packet materials and the zoom link to attend.
This position is to replace a current member’s appointment, which expires in April 2024.
Planning Commissioner duties include architectural design review, recommendations to the Town Council on planning applications such as: subdivisions, planned unit developments, rezoning, lot line vacations and boundary line adjustments, variance requests, conditional use requests, signs, and formulating town planning policies. Generally, the Planning Commission meetings are scheduled on the first and third Wednesday of every month. Planning Commission members receive $150.00 per meeting.
To qualify, applicants must be a resident of Mt. Crested Butte for the previous twelve (12) months and be a Mt. Crested Butte registered voter.
