Thinking of starting a business in Mt. Crested Butte?
Due to the State of Colorado passing Senate Bill 22-032, the Town of Mt. Crested Butte is beginning the process of dismantling the Business License program completely. The Town will no longer be issuing business licenses and all businesses are welcome to operate within the Town of Mt. Crested Butte without one. Please do not send renewal payments for your business license, it will no longer be accepted.
Businesses are still required to hold a Sales Tax License and remit sales tax if applicable under Chapter 19 of the Mt. Crested Butte Town Code. Short Term Rentals units are still required to hold an STR License in accordance with Chapter 11, Article II or the Town Code.
In addition to discontinuing the Business License Fee, the Town is onboarding with GovOS/MUNIRevs for our sales tax collection and management. We hope to go live with this program within the first month of 2023 and will be requiring all businesses to begin filing and remitting through the MUNIRevs online portal. More information will be provided in the coming weeks.
