Parking Regulations

There is no parking on any street or right-of-way within the Town of Mt. Crested Butte and regulations within public parking lots vary. Before you park, please read the signs in the lot for further clarification. Parking on private property is not allowed and the owner has the right to have your car towed. 

  • We will ticket or tow any vehicle that is parked illegally
  • We will tow any vehicle that is blocking emergency or snow removal activities, or any vehicle that appears abandoned.

If your car is towed
You have the right to contest any police tow in the Mt. Crested Butte Municipal Court. Please call the Court Clerk at 970-349-6632 to arrange a court date.

If you receive a parking ticket
You can pay the fine prior to the court date indicated on the ticket by mailing the correct fine amount in the envelope provided to:

You have the right to contest a parking ticket in the Mt. Crested Butte municipal court. You must appear in court on the date noted on your ticket and your case will then be set for a bench trial. If you do not appear in court on the date noted on your ticket, then you are automatically admitting fault and you cannot contest your ticket at a later date. The municipal court is located in Town Hall at 911 Gothic Road in Mt. Crested Butte.

If you fail to pay your parking ticket prior to your court date or fail to appear in court on the date indicated on your ticket, you will incur late fees and a warrant may be issued for your arrest. If you refuse to pay your parking ticket and late fees and refuse to appear in court when forced.
